Please join us as we Zoom into the Kalisher Absorption Center in Israel
Sunday, September 13th at Noon! Federated Jewish Charities of Huntington is dedicating our fundraising campaign in honor of Pauline Kaplan and Joan Weisberg to mark the joyous occasion of their 90th birthdays!
Our goal is to fund the much needed repairs and renovations of the Youth Club at the Kalisher Absorption Center. This is needed to create a welcoming, properly-equipped space to support the social and academic needs of the Ethiopian children who recently made Aliyah. Currently, 230 Ethiopian olim live at the center—93 under the age of 18—and an additional 400 Ethiopians are expected to make Aliyah by the end of the year. Most of the children who live at
the center arrive from impoverished circumstances and with little or no education.
The Kalisher Center provides the children with comprehensive services and in depth interventions to lay the foundations they need to successfully begin new lives in the Jewish homeland. If we reach our goal, in the Youth Club at the Kalisher Absorption Center there will be a plaque of appreciation naming B’nai Sholom Congregation and Federated Jewish Charities of Huntington.
Please join together as we meet members of our Jewish family who left Ethiopia to fulfill a dream of living in Israel. Zoom Meeting
